There wasn’t any suspense, or parts that were thrilling or exciting. A part of the story that made me feel sorry for the characters was when Fred and Barney got blamed for stealing a necklace. It was about Barney (Stephen Baldwin), Betty (Jane Krakowski), Wilma (Kristen Johnston) and Fred (Mark Addy), and how they first meet. It was also about Dino [the Flintstones’ pet] being born. In the story [screenplay by Deborah Kaplan, Harry Elfont, Jim Cash and Jack Epps], Chip (Thomas Gibson) tries to stop Fred marrying Wilma.
The puppets like Dino and the Octopus Masseuse [created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop] were funny and clever. They did a lot of funny stuff, like the calamari bit, and I liked the way they were designed to look, because you never see things like them in real life.
In the story, The Rockettes do a dancing act. It was pretty boring, but the costumes [costumes designed by Robert Turturice] of the dancing girls were the best, along with the costume of the waitress at the burger place. Barney’s wardrobe was boring, but I liked the costumes of the other characters.
The film was OK, but I think they could have made it funnier, and I think they could have got people who looked more like the cartoon characters. This movie isn’t as funny as the first Flintstones movie, and I didn’t like the idea of the Flintstones characters in a casino setting.I think that adults would like the movie, and so would little children. But teenagers would think that it’s babyish.--(10-year old Ashely Chill, c/o Shane Lewis)
